I looked at myself. I was dirty. Hungry. Thirsty. In other words, I wasn't in very good condition.
I was still fairly young. When I was a few weeks old, my father went to hunt for food. A little while after he left the den, there was a very loud noise, then there was silence. He didn't come back to the den that day. Then when I was a few months old, my mother and I were scavenging for food. She accidentally stepped in a twoleg's trap that was hidden under leaves. Mother let out a yelp and fell to the ground. I begged her to get up, tears streaming from my eyes. She told me I had to go, escape from the forest and away from her, otherwise the twolegs would take me, too. When the twolegs came near enough for me to hear the leaves crackle under their feet, instinct took over me. I said goodbye to my mother, licking her desperately. I then ran, ran as fast as I could until my legs couldn't run anymore. I curled up on the ground, not caring where I was or that was hungry and thirsty. That night I wimpered and cried until I couldn't anymore and fell asleep. I also had a brother, but I couldn't remember his name or what had happened to him. All I knew was that I was seperated from my entire family. They were gone. Dead.
I had no where to go, no one to be with. I was alone. I was a lone wolf.
I was now a little over a year old, able to take care of myself. But not too well. I sighed, limping on my back right leg. Blood was leaving a small trail from my leg as I limped along. I needed to find a home. A home with plentiful food, water, and shelter. And free of twolegs.
I had just gotten shot my a twoleg; blood was coming from my leg, and I limped painfully on it. Twolegs. I hated them. I would never forgive them for what they did to my family. I growled and shook away the thought.
I came to a large lake of water. I slightly sped up my pace, eager to drink it. I drank some water, then soaked my leg in it. It felt cool, numbing the pain of where the bullet shot me. It also stopped bleeding. I pretty soon soaked my whole body in the lake. I stepped out and shook my fur, the droplets of water shining in the moonlight. I looked at myself, suprised. My white fur shined and seemed to sparkle beautifully, brighter than the full moon. I wasn't up for hunting; there was still pain in my leg when I put weight on it. I smelled a deer carcass near. I followed the scent, soon finding it. I sniffed at it. It wasn't caught very recently, and it smelled old and raw. But this was the only food I was getting tonight. I took a few bites out of it, then went back to the lake. The moon was rising. I needed a den where I could sleep safely. I walked around the area, looking around. I found a large rock where I could view the lake. I jumped onto it. I had a little trouble; my leg was starting to hurt again. I finally scrambled onto the rock, slightly panting. After I caught my breath, I limped to the edge of the rock, then sat down. I looked down at the lake, the moonlight shining on it's surface. /It's beautiful../ I then looked up at the moon, slowly floating in the dark night sky. I lifted my head higher, letting out a long, loud, mournful howl. I looked down, then lifted my head again and let out another louder howl.
